Pistacia lentiscus gum (mastic gum) is an aromatic resin harvested from the bark of the mastic tree, native to the Greek island of Chios. It functions as a film-forming agent, mattifier, and absorbent. Clinical studies show it inhibits 5-alpha reductase type I enzyme, reducing sebum production and refining pore appearance — with 8% pore refinement at 14 days and 15% at 28 days.
