Coconut Acid

Coconut Acid is a collective term for the blend of free fatty acids derived from coconut oil (Cocos Nucifera) through hydrolysis with water or steam. The resulting mixture is predominantly saturated and consists of lauric acid (C12), myristic acid (C14), palmitic acid (C16), caprylic acid (C8), and capric acid (C10). In cosmetic formulations it functions simultaneously as a cleansing surfactant, emollient, and emulsifying agent, helping to remove oils and debris, soften the skin surface, and stabilise oil-in-water or water-in-oil emulsions.
