Formula IngredientAntioxidant, Skin ConditioningINCI: Centella Asiatica Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract
Centella asiatica flower/leaf/stem extract is a broad-spectrum whole-plant extract derived from the flowers, leaves, and stems of centella asiatica (Apiaceae), a perennial herb native to Asia. Like the leaf-only extract, it is rich in pentacyclic triterpene saponins — asiaticoside, madecassoside, asiatic acid, and madecassic acid — which stimulate collagen synthesis, promote fibroblast activity, and boost glycosaminoglycan and hyaluronic acid production. The inclusion of flower and stem material may yield a slightly wider phytochemical profile, but the core skin-soothing, antioxidant, moisturising, and barrier-repair properties are equivalent to those of the leaf extract.

Generally well tolerated at typical cosmetic concentrations. Rare adverse reactions include localised allergic contact reactions. Those with known allergies to plants in the Apiaceae (carrot/parsley) family should patch test. No EU Annex restrictions apply.
Centella asiatica does not increase photosensitivity. Its antioxidant activity (via asiaticoside and related centellosides) may help mitigate visible effects of UV-induced skin damage.
Topical use at cosmetic concentrations is considered safe during pregnancy. Clinical studies on centella asiatica-based creams for striae prevention demonstrated good tolerability from the third trimester onwards with no systemic safety concerns. Consult a healthcare provider for professional-strength formulations.
