Formula IngredientHumectantINCI: Polyglycerin-3
Polyglycerin-3 is a moisturising ingredient made up of three glycerin molecules linked together (also known as triglycerol). Its larger molecular structure compared to standard glycerin means it penetrates the skin more slowly, delivering a gentler, longer-lasting humectant effect. It draws water into the stratum corneum, helps maintain the skin barrier, and is widely used in serums, essences, toners, and masks.

Polyglycerin-3 is a derivative of glycerin, one of the least irritating cosmetic ingredients. It is well-tolerated by all skin types including sensitive skin. No EU CosIng Annex II or III restrictions apply. Its slower absorption rate means it is even less likely to cause transient stinging compared to pure glycerin.
Polyglycerin-3 is a humectant and does not increase photosensitivity. No sun protection precautions are required based on its presence in a formulation.
MANUAL REVIEW: No dedicated pregnancy safety data found in EWG Skin Deep or MotherToBaby databases for polyglycerin-3 specifically. Based on its structural similarity to glycerin (a universally regarded safe cosmetic ingredient), it is generally considered safe during pregnancy. Consult a healthcare provider if in doubt.
