Formula IngredientEmulsifierINCI: Polyglyceryl-10 Stearate
Polyglyceryl-10 Stearate is the ester of stearic acid (a fatty acid) with polyglycerin-10, a chain of ten glycerin molecules. It is a vegetable-derived, PEG-free, non-ionic emulsifier and skin-conditioning agent that enables stable oil-in-water emulsions with an HLB of 12–13. It provides a smooth, elegant texture and mild emollient feel, and is found in moisturisers, masks, toners, serums, and foundations.

Non-irritating to skin and shows no sensitising effects at normal cosmetic use concentrations. The CIR Expert Panel assessed 274 polyglyceryl fatty acid esters (including polyglyceryl-10 stearate) as safe when formulated to be non-irritating. No EU CosIng Annex II or III restrictions apply. PEG-free, PPG-free, dioxane-free, and chlorine-free.
Polyglyceryl-10 Stearate does not increase photosensitivity. No special sun protection measures are required when using products containing this ingredient.
Multigenerational animal studies (rats fed 1.5% polyglyceryl ester diet for 3 generations) showed no significant variation in fertility, reproductive performance, or offspring abnormalities. Motherfigure rates it as limited data but no known risk. The CIR Expert Panel considers the class safe at normal use concentrations.
