Is Chia Seed Oil safe? Key considerations

Can Chia Seed Oil cause irritation?

Low Risk

Chia seed oil is well tolerated by most skin types. No EU CosIng Annex II or III restrictions apply. Its high omega-3 content makes it particularly suitable for sensitive and barrier-compromised skin. Rare allergic reactions are possible in individuals sensitive to Lamiaceae (mint family) plants.

Does Chia Seed Oil increase sun sensitivity?

No Risk

Chia seed oil does not increase photosensitivity. No sun protection precautions are required based on its presence in a formulation.

Is Chia Seed Oil safe during pregnancy?

Safe

Chia seed oil is a plant-derived oil with no known reproductive or developmental toxicity. It is widely considered safe for topical use during pregnancy.
