Formula IngredientEmollientINCI: Butyrospermum Parkii Butter
Shea butter is a natural fat extracted from the seeds of the African shea (karite) tree, Butyrospermum parkii. It is rich in fatty acids (oleic, stearic, linoleic, palmitic), triterpenes, and antioxidant vitamins A, E, and F, which work together to deeply moisturise, condition, and protect the skin barrier. Its anti-inflammatory triterpene content also helps soothe irritated skin and supports cell regeneration.

Well tolerated by most skin types including sensitive skin. The CIR Expert Panel has assessed it as safe for cosmetic use. Raw (unrefined) shea butter contains trace latex compounds that may irritate those with latex sensitivities; refined shea butter has a better tolerance profile. Rare cases of contact cheilitis have been documented. No EU CosIng Annex II, III, V, or VI restrictions apply.
Shea butter does not increase photosensitivity. It contains minor UV-filtering triterpenes but should not be relied upon as sun protection. No special sun-care measures are required when using shea butter-containing products.
Widely considered safe for topical use during pregnancy. CIR reproductive toxicity studies in rats at concentrations exceeding 15% showed no adverse reproductive effects. No documented human safety concerns for topical use. Shea butter is commonly recommended for stretch mark prevention during pregnancy. Consult a healthcare provider if in doubt.

Individuals with latex allergy (use refined shea butter only), very oily skin (may feel heavy) should review the considerations above before use.
